Course Overview
This course is designed to help students become effective users of language, information, and ideas through reading, writing, and speaking. This will be accomplished through amazing writing (creativity, computer usage, cooperative learning, and presentations) and diving into reading (extensive reading, independent thought, a vivid imagination, and thoughtful analysis).

Class Textbook
This course uses the Houghton Mifflin Harcourt COLLECTIONS textbook in the classroom. Students also have access to the textbook through their STUDENT PORTAL.

Required Materials
Each student is required to provide the following materials (to be kept in the classroom):

1 3-ring binder (with front cover sleeve) - No more than 1 inch in size

Loose leaf paper for binder

4 Blue (navy) & Black Ink Pens (colored ink and pencils are NOT permitted)

Post-It Notes (for novel annotations)

Agenda

Headphones/Earbuds
